the stitch is called coptic stitch. I liked it so much i started a similar book for myself.

i was digging through my family photos and found some amazing old pictures.
i haven't decided whether i will put all of them up but some of them will definitely be here tomorrow.

170. Think before acting.

The pic on top is the first real layer of the painting im working on. it's taken so long because there was an old painting underneath that, that i had to cover up with 3 layers of gesso before it was fully covered and then 2 layers of the nice aqua paint, so that it was nice and solid. The little square beside the big canvas is just a little swatch with the color mixture written on back.
The pic on the bottom is just an example of the style of painting im aiming for.
